Engraving much clearer than in the photograph. The pocket watch and outer case are hallmarked for Chester 1892.
Watch not working at the moment but the original key is attached. No doubt, the watch could be restored to working order.
Watch attributed to Lieutenant-Colonel Harold Esdaile Malet, who was commissioned in the regiment in 1859.
He went on command the 18th Hussars from 1882 to 1886.
In 1907 he published "The Historical Memoirs of the XVIII Hussars."
