Copy research. William John Clayden was born 18 June 1869 in Swaffham, Norfolk. Joined the Met. Police 27 December 1887. (T Division - Hammersmith). He resigned 1 February 1914. The 1901 census shows him living at 41 High Street, Brentford (Police Station) with his wife and daughter. He died in June 1931.

Copy research. William Ford was born 21 Sept. 1840 at Micheldever, Hants. Joined the Met. Police 5 May 1873 at Stepney. He resigned 9 August 1888 due to epilepsy. The 1881 census shows him living at 4 Reeves Road, Bromley, with his wife and 2 sons.

Photographs and post cards, several relating to Lewis Harding. Among the photographs are two with names, both including 'Harding'. One of these is noted 'The new St. Austell fire engine and team July 29th 1923' and the other 'NVFB Winning National Junior Motor Pump, Yeovil 1934'.
Among the other photographs there is a man who may well be Harding. One large picture shows Edward Prince of Wales (Edward VIII) and apparently King George V on a fire engine. The King is dressed as a fireman and wears the breast star of the Order of the Star of India! Other photographs and cards include fire engines from various brigades.

Rare MID to a St. John's Ambulance Volunteer. Copy papers. London Gazette 10 Sept. 1901 shows that 156 Private A. Kew, St. John's Volunteer Ambulance Corps was mentioned in Earl Robert's despatch dated 4 Sept. 1901. The only 2 other St. John's men listed are officers. Medal roll confirms Cape Colony clasp (which is loose on ribbon). He is listed on the Leeds Town Hall roll of service for the Boer War as Private A. Kew, Leeds Corps, St. John's Ambulance Brigade.
