Copy research. Arthur John Ablitt. Confirmed on 1911 Durbar medal roll serving with 1st Battalion, Great Indian Peninsular Railway Volunteers. Served on the Mesopotamian Railway at some time during World War One. Returned to England at end of war and married Mary Johnstone in South Shields in late 1918. He moved with his wife and new-born son, back to India in 1920. Shown shipping lists between India and England several times in the 1930's and 40's and shown as working on Indian Railways.
His son, John Frederick Ablitt, served as an officer in the Royal Artillery in World War Two and later worked in the nuclear industry. His obituary (2004) states: "John Ablitt was born in Romford, Essex, the descendent of an 18th Century Suffolk clockmaker of the same name and the son of an engineer on the Great Indian Peninsular Railway."

Copy MIC shows entitlement to 1914/15 Star (date of entry 23 November 1914. which seems unusual for an Indian volunteer) and Victory Medal.
Frederick Lancaster Holdron worked in the Stores Department of the Grand Indian Peninsular Railway. He was born in 1884 in Portsea. In 1920 he is a Chief Clerk and married with 3 children. The MIC shows him as Holdrons, the s added in error.

Ralph Hamilton Hossack was born in Kensington, London in 1875 and became a tea planter. MIC confirms BWM. He died in Chichester in 1966.
